When I was Kid I did an stay in the hospital at one point. While there I had a number of visitors and one of my visitors bought out all the Hulk comics the gift shop had for me… These are the issues that helped lock down my love for Hulk!
I really have no idea to go with this one and keep it on the path of “Pop Culture”
If clutter on the desk was an Olympic Sport…
If Unfinished Projects was an Olympic Sport…
If Binge Watching Netflix was an Olympic Sport…
When it comes down to it, I am not overly obsessive about much of anything… I have little micro-collections on themes, but no major awe inspiring collections…
I have my Bossk’s (I also have one of Gamorrean Guards, but it is packed away right now…)
I have my Raph collection…
and of course I have my Hulks…
I have a lot of Hulks, but mostly they are things I picked up off clearence racks or Garage Sales. I have never really slapped down the big bills like the Gold Medal collectors do…
So when you get right down to it, it is far more likely that I would be sent home with a participation ribbon over a gold medal… but I am fine with that… I like my little collections.
I have been doing a fair share of Garage sale shopping this summer. This past week was by far the best of the summer though. At one sale I bought a box of Random Star Wars toys for real cheap. I am not one who really buys Star Wars stuff anymore… Unless it is a Gamorrean Guard, Greedo or Bossk. The thing is I have wanted one of the Large Scale Tanative IV Rebel Blockade Runners since I first saw it at the comic shop I worked at for a price I just could not afford to pay. So when I saw a complete one sitting in this box of toys I had to have it. I already have a home planned out for it hanging from the ceiling in my sons room….
The other two things I picked up was a big bag of Pokemon figures. I know nothing about Pokemon… but I like the look of the monsters, so I thought it would be fun to have sitting on my monster shelf… of course that didnt last long. Everytime I turn around they have be confiscated by my youngest daughter… so that makes them a good purchase right there…. and the last lot was Spider-Man and Friend figures. I bought the box for the Hulk to add him to the other 101 Hulks in my collection… But I like the idea of having kid friendly Marvel Toys for my son as he gets a little older. There were a lot of Spider-Men in the box obviously… I already have plans to customize a couple of them one is going to be Daredevil for sure, another Iron Fist… Still playing around with ideas for some of the others…
I have a constant search saved on Ebay to find me one of these, had one as a kid. Would love to have it again…
The Comic that really hooked me and made me into a collector though was Defenders #100.
One of the times my older Step-Brother shipped out overseas in the Army he left behind a bunch of his comics for me. Most of them disappeared over the years. Defenders 100 somehow managed to stick around. One summer after before my Junior year of High School I came across it sitting on a shelf in our basement…
I ended up sitting down and reading it, that was it I was hooked. Shortly after I tracked down some local comic shops and was digging in the bins searching for more issues of The Defenders!
The Defenders was the first comic that I managed to collect the full run of. Love that book plain and simple. It was a classic. They have tried to reboot it a number of times since then, but none live up to the original.
Anyway… A number of years ago (2010) I did a set of sketch cards of the Core members that showed up in the book. I think The Iceman and Silver Surfer card came off pretty poor, but I really dug how the rest turned out.
Starting from the top Row Left to Right:
Red Guardian, Power Man, Silver Surfer
Angel, Clea, Hawkeye
Beast, IceMan, MoonDragon
Truth be told, I am not a Dog.
I am a goldfish.

I am Charles. Stay-at-Home Dad, Husband,Draw-er of Things,Geek and All Around Cool Cat.
At times on the internet I have been known as CrashedNeon, Eboladuck, Crayduck, BobaDuck and now just CRPechonick.
In real life, I am the only male in a house of Females. That does not bother me though. Because my Wife and Children (Internet Codenamed: Wife, Red and Gold) are wonderful. I have been a stay at home father since a little after the oldest, Red, was born. Making the choice to stay at home with the kids is one of the few smart choices I have made in my life.
Being a stay at home Dad has had a side effect though. My Oldest has turned into a bit of a Tom-Boy Geek because of it. (see picture later in post) she would much rather watch Super-Hero Cartoons and goto Comic Conventions then any of your stero-typical girl stuff. Lucky for me though Goldie has turned out to be a girly girl there by redeeming me with my wife. 🙂
I am someone who is rushing through his 40’s at an alarming pace and trying to stay a kid.
I do this by drawing cartoons reading comics and being an over all geek.
I have way to many projects in development. I have enough outlined and plotted ideas to last a lifetime but very few finished pages.
My goal is to some day make some of these ideas into a comic of my own…
I am a collector.
No real central focus like some people have, but anything that catches my eye.
I do have a series of Mini-Collections, Small obsessions with certain characters or themes that have ended up in them having little displays of their own.
Some of those include Famous Cartoon Ducks, Hulk, Lego Mini-Figures, Boba Fett, Greedo, Gammorean Guards, Bossk and Green Toys.
So That is all I feel like writting right now… The house is a DISASTER and I really should be cleaning… Maybe I will return and expand on this more later… No Promises though.

One of the biggest names in comics, creator of a large corner of the Marvel Comics Universe, as well as his fair share of books over at DC.
He would have been 96 years old today.
Happy Birthday Mr. Kirby.
Mr. Kirby is one of my favorite artist and creators. Two of my favorite comics of all time Eternals at Marvel and Kamandi from DC are creations of his. Would have loved to have had the chance to have met him before he passed.
